When it comes to the Presidency of Timor-Leste, the First Lady does matter.

I want Francisco Guterres "Lu Olo" to be the next president for many reasons. One of the most important reasons is that Lu Olo is happily married, has a decent family and is married to an East Timorese woman, a Buibere. And yes, I want an East Timorese, a Buibere to be the next First Lady. Lu Olo's wife, Cidália Lopes Mouzinho Guterres should be the next First Lady.

Avelino Coelho's wife is not East Timorese. Fernando Lasama's wife is a Philippino/US citizen. Ramos-Horta doesn't have a wife, nor does Francisco Xavier do Amaral or Manuel Tilman. Lucia Lobato is not married. João Carrascalão is married to Ramos-Horta's sister. The only problem for me is that Carrascalão's wife spent too much time abroad and is out of touch with the real history and needs of the Buibere women. João Carrascalão's family does not see itself as Timor-Leste residents, not today not ever. And please, NO MORE AUSSIE FIRST LADIES!!!

Lu Olo is the only candidate with a decent and loving family and a First Lady of real East Timorese and Buibere background.

Let's vote Lu Olo for the next President of the Republic!

Comments:
Jesus Christ!

If having a "good" wife is the most important criteria to elect a president Timor has no hope.

I mean, we could have the most incompetent person for the job but that's ok, his wife is a "nice" person and a Timorese.

No wonder Timor is in such a mess.

Oh......same of candidate president nor wife......... can they choose me as their wife to become east timoress first lady?

"I mean, we could have the most incompetent person for the job but that's ok."

On that note its happened before. hihiihihihihihihihi

The blogger is right. Having a happy family tells a lot about a candidate. If a candidate can't even look after his or her household, can you imagine running the nation? Horta and Xanana have a "broken" household, no wonder the country is in such a mess.

And YES indeed. Let's have a Timorese woman this time.

Vote [1] Lu Olo!

You idiots. Read what the blogger says:

"One of the most important reasons..."

The reason for this is as outlined by anon 3:48 PM.

Vote [1] Lu Olo!

By the way, FRETILIN's rally in Gleno is HUGE success compared to what Horta was able to achieve with his "charm", his the help of his Church "mates" and his so called "Noble for "Peace" (yet supported the war on Iraq!).

By the way Fretilin's rally in Laclubar/ Manatuto only gathered a few hundred people.

Not very promising...

Boring. Too pathetic to bother commenting on.

Given this is a Fretilin site, how about an exposition/explanation on the new FRETILIN-ised/Mozambiqu-ized logo for RDTL.

5:08 PM keep writing...

Family values is important in a leader!!!!

Vote LuOlu no1
Viva FRETILIN

There are many factors making it unlikely for Luolo to win the presidential election.

As a matter of fact the only way for him to win is to get a significant majority in the first round and exclude the need for a second round vote.

An outright victory in the first round is difficult because:

-There are too many candidates vying for a limited number of votes.
-Fretilin has lost a segment of its supporters through the splitting of the party into two factions. Even if the split is not in the middle in terms of percentages, the so called "Fretilin Mudansa" may command enough numbers to deny the so called "Maputo-Fretilin" its 56.3% majority obtained in the 2001 elections.
-The 4 years of disilusionment with Fretilin government's failure to make noticeable improvements in people's living conditions, unemployment and poverty reduction, and more importantly the latest crisis has eroded people's confidence in Fretilin's ability to deliver its promises will take its toll.
-Other social and economic factors.

If so, and in the event of the elections proceeding to a second round, Luolo would be defeated if he became one of the two candidates coming through from the first round.
The reason being that the votes from the other defeated candidates would most certainly be offered to the candidate running against Luolo. Differences aside, the biggest unifying factor for the opposition is their wish to break Fretilin's monopoly on political power. This would translate into Luolo's defeat.

I could be wrong but if my analysis is correct and the election proceeds within the established rules, Luolo will not be the next RDTL President.
I will not however make any predictions as to which of the other candidates will win other than to narrow it down to one of the trio Horta, Lasama, Lucia.

Waht a crap. EAST TIMORESE raacist? Just look at Cidalia's face and tell me to wich race she looks like. Just like Megawati when she was skini. Joao Carrascalao does not spend to much time outside. She a victim of the war , an like many other timorese she was living as refugee in Australia. Soon as she could she imediatly came back to Timor with her husband . She is always by his side. Abou other members of Joao's Family, only three sisters and two brother ( out of 12 brothers and sister) are abroad . One of the brother is very ill and so is one of the sister, in fact the older sister is very ill with open heart operation. The others are working people, but all are East Timorese citizen..If you think Lu Olo should be the president fine , is your choice, but leave the families alone. And stop being racist . Timorese are not like that . There is no pure race in East Timor. Some are " RAça cruzada" with Inodnesia, some with aboriginal australian, some with portuguese, some with Papuan ( just look at some hair in easter part of he island , even look at Lu Olo's hair". Stop with this business on picking on people with wifes from other countries . that is not good for us East Timorese. that is why we are facing the problem of Loro Sa'e and Loro Mono...We are not even a million and here you are with very low ideais.

i do not want a presidente simple because he has a good wife. STOP !

I am a Malae tax paying resident living in Dili. I would find it pretty easy to get a Timorese wife from either Los Palos or Gleno. Take your pick.
Will you please now vote for me?

I am a malae too and have three East Timorese prostitutes serving me anytime I want. Sometimes I have thresomes with them.

I can easily get Timorese girls from parents of good stand in Dili.

I imagine if these three East Timorese would become a first lady in ET just because they are Timorese and have to ask money again from me.

The main issue in East Timor is not a gender issue but the live of the nation, the institution of the the nation, the demacracy , the army...etc.
We don't about who is the next first lady...(this tha lower concer of the women...)
Think the Nation First!
Please

This blot has got progressively more childish, petter and racist. I think I'm gonna nuke it from my favourites list. The only reason it gets loads of hits is for the above reasons!
BiBi Timor oan, you wanker.....

Obviously I meant 'blog' and not 'blot' and 'petty' and not 'petter'. My mistakes. Still, goodbye again Timor oan, you even bigger wanker.....

Anonymous said 7:59 PM.

Yes, you are the biggest wanker! Say hi to Mrs Palmer and five daughters for me.

No need for self correction now.

hihihihihihih

Goodbye Lu-Olo, Alkatiri is waiting for you to give him a french kiss.

CNRT will beat u. Your former PM will go to jail for crime of forming militias to kill opposition leaders.

Goodbye Fretilin

Everyone Anonymous 7:24 AM is the voice of the people. No need for elections.

There is absolutely no doubt that Alkatiri and his Mauputo fretilin are living on borrowed time.

No amount of wishful thinking will bring you back to the past.

Sorry, but that is very obvious by now...

I just hope you dont accept defeat well and dont go out kicking and screaming like a spoilt brat.

Correction: "I hope you accept defeat well..."

Anonymous 12:41 PM

Correction: I hope that the opposition parties continue to learn how to be good opposition rather kicking and acting like spoilt brats like what they have done for the last fours years. You now will have another four hears to change so that you can learn how to be a good opposition for the next fifty years to come.

I have seen FRETILIN's blogs and they seem to have some support from the pictures they have posted on LuOlu for President blogs. I would like to see PD or PSD and Horta start their own blog with pictures of their supporters, I mean FRETILIN is on burrowed time right so whatever support FRETILIN has PD, PSD and Horta would have more people in their respective rallies.

I would like most of all to see Hortas campaign at the Dili Gymnasium, wow Horta you have so much support, I hear there was going to be six thousand people because you are so popular.

But anyway its the vote that will count, but the signs arent looking too good Horta, Lasama, Lucia and Co.

Fretilin will be the PR, no doubt about that! But, only if he wins on the first round with 50%+1 votes. Will he be able to get that much of votes? I wish him good luck as he is not presenting program in his campaign, instead insulting the current PR, and telling history as usual, of course!

Good luck LU...

Geta Lolo!

The photos in Fretilin's blog are very misleading. As a matter of fact the photos show to a certain degree that Fretilin's estimates are not quite right.

In any case these photos show a big decrease in numbers compared to the 2001 elections.

That should definitely be a big worry for Mari and Luolo. Actually we should be honest enough to accept that if they were not worried they would run their campaign in a more relaxed maner. The insults and incessant atacks by Mari and Luolo on a party (CNRT) that has not even been officialy registered is a clear show of their fears.

Where are the photos of Horta, PD psd ASDT candidates?

Photos are irrelevante. Specially when the people most likely to see them are not the ones who are going to vote.

The voters are the poor majority who are not at all impressed by Mari's and fretilin's 4 year governance.

I suppose fretilin feels a need to reassure itself by posting such photos whereas the opposition seem more interested in running a good campaign among the electorate where it matters most.

Dear 7:40pm

Hau nia kusta hanesan o nia feton.

Lahetan Boy. hehehe............

Anonymous 4:50 PM

If the Opposition and Horta had showed a large support during their campaign photos would be everywhere. Unfortunately they dont have such grassroots support.

Running a good campaign? well it doesn't look good at the moment does it. In Timor the best indicator of support are rallies. If no one turns up to them then you certainly have no support.

Anonymous 1:31

If rally attendance is the indicator for the support one is likely to get then the attendance so far means that the big majority of Timorese people do not support Luolo.

From the more than 500,000 registered voters only 50.000 (Fretilin's own estimates) or so people showed up for Luolos rallies.
Mind you even this estimate is obviously exaggerated and we only have to take a good look at the photos from Liquica rally in Luolos blogspot to see why. What seems to be a crowd of no more than 500 people has been estimated by Fretilin as being 3000. Either they should not have posted those photos or they should sack the people doing the estimations.
But I am rather glad they did post those photos because it really gave me a sense of the support he has or rather does not have at a national level.

I understand that crowd estimation is not an exact science but the Liquica crowd was ludicrously overestimated.

Anyway, Good luck...

May the best man or woman win.

What kind of election is this when we are basing the merits of the man by where his wife came from - Shall we look at some US presidents - all married to good WASP women (American, white, from good families). The protraits of these families are lovely but let's look at the results - Clinton - did naughty things with someone who wasn't his wife. Bush - war policies have made him unpopular with his countrymen and then there is JFK - surely we all remember Marilyn's rendition of happy birthday?? Being married to people of their own country meant nothing. Why don't we look at these candidates by what they can offer the East Timorese people? Candidates (and their wives) who have lived abroad have the benefit of knowledge as well as the local understanding - doesn't that make better sense than concentrating on their wives and families?

Lu Olo is stupite ona ! He don't know what is a government, and how administring ?

Behind every great man is a great woman.
Lu Olo has got my vote.
