Why does Australia resist UN takeover of Timor security?...
Aussie ambassador to the UN, Robert Hill, who used to be the minister for defence by the way, sees "no need for the stabilisation force to be brought under direct United Nations mandate," ... NO WAY!!! The Diggers are doing JACK while Dili burns and looted, its residence in more fear now that than before... I can't imagine how Dili or Timor-Leste for that matter will be in six months time if security is relegated to the Diggers. Initially I thought that with the arrival of the Diggers, things would quickly calm down and return to normal. Yet, burning and looting still occur, 70,000 people still live in refugee camps.
